Broadway for Kids, Too!

Music students in grades 1-5 have been invited to perform on stage with the Eugene Concert Choir and a 7-piece instrumental ensemble on Saturday, April 27, at 11:00 a.m. at the Hult Center.
The choir’s outreach program provides free passes for each student and their accompanying adult. This includes admission to see the Eugene Concert Choir’s performance of Broadway hits as well as watching your student go on stage and sing with the choir.
Students will be learning the Broadway song, “High Hopes” during music class and be able to perform with other elementary students from around the area. Students should arrive at 10:00 a.m. for rehearsing with the choir and fun games in the lobby at 10:30 a.m.  Additional information and the free passes will be coming soon.  This is an optional performance; transportation will not be provided.

Sounds of Africa

The students have started to practice for our spring music concert, "Sounds of Africa".  This year, we decided to focus on folk songs and stories from Africa since African music has influenced music that we listen to today.  Students will be singing and playing instruments, but also performing a story along with sound effects.  We look forward to seeing you on Tuesday, May 14 at 7:00 p.m. in the gym!  Please have your student show up by 6:40 p.m. in their classrooms to warm up their voices and get in their correct order.  Also, students may dress up if they wish, but make sure to wear comfortable shoes!

Blues

The Rainy Day Blues Society offered three workshops to students in grades 2-5 on rhythm, Blues history, and songwriting.  After the workshops, they presented a concert of Blues music for the entire school.  Students were invited to come up and play instruments and perform the songs they wrote earlier in the day!
